FUNDRAISING APPEAL

FOR NEW LIBRARY, ART AND DESIGN ROOMS AND THEATRE

I have had the privilege to lead St Bees School in its second incarnation for just under a year now.  Set where it is, with an incredible history and so many stakeholders who care so much about its revival and success, this really is a fine educational establishment, and an ideal place to be educated. All of us involved in this project are determined that we make the school sustainable into the future with a model of education which draws the very best from the old, while looking forward with renewed spirit and vigour to provide an independent school education with a difference. Our international outlook, overt focus on the development of character, the links to St Bees Schools in China and, in future, further afield, are all part of the package that we are confident will see a long-term future for this most august of institutions. The buildings, of course, still remain in trust and are therefore the property of the St Bees School Charitable Trust. This remains, as it always was, without substantial streams of income until the St Bees Schools reach a significant size. Looking after and financing the renovation of our ancient buildings is no small undertaking, especially when we have the added cost of making the facilities fit for the 21st Century. We will therefore now and always rely to some extent on the great and good of our alumni and other friends of the school. It is with this in mind that I appeal to you all to donate generously to this Appeal. Any little (and hopefully large) donation that you can give will be very gratefully received indeed.
